Healing the Community

Wear your mask in public. Wash your hands. Keep a safe distance of six feet from others. These phrases have become synonymous with 2020. A year filled with turmoil, sickness, and death with five months remaining. While some have crumbled under the pressure of an uncertainty that looms over every city across America, some choose to lighten the load with signs of hope. Elizabeth Knight and Tara Montgomery of Garden City, GA are soldiers in the fight for personal wellness and health. The two ladies are provding a place of solice and healing through nature’s cures.

Knight and Montgomery hosted the first 5 Mile Bend Farmer’s Market in Garden City, GA on July 18, 2020. As COVID-19 confirmed cases continue to rise in Georgia, staying healthy is a top priority. According to the CDC, Black Americans have been highly affected by the COVID-19 due to underlying conditions such as heart disease and high blood pressure.

Tara Montgomery says that choosing a diet of organic fruits and vegetables has helped her improve her health overall. “The journey that I’m on I had to do something different because I was in a deep dark place. I’m eating healthy and eating organically and I wanted to share that with the community”.
